With only 4 clients on our location-based, day workshops and 6-8 (with 2-3 tutors) in the classroom or online, the individual comes first on f11 workshops. The itineraries on our location-based workshops and tours are devised by Rachael based on her own in-depth knowledge of each place gleaned over many years of living and/or working there herself. Rachael usually leaves her camera at home while out on our workshops, so that she can fully concentrate on you. In the classroom and online, Rachael is joined by Adrian Beasley, a very experienced and dedicated photography teacher and, for our bookmaking workshops, Clea Beasley, a specialist in that field.

Explore the site, and tell us what you think; we’d love to hear from you. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.

More tours and dates are being added all the time and we also hold waiting lists for our workshops, so please let us know if you'd like your name to be added to any of them.

  • Sea, Sand and Shingle location workshop.   A brilliant day. So struck by your lovely way as a workshop leader. Great you don’t have your own camera out, so very much appreciated you being always available and circulating. You probably have no idea how unusual that is! Your gentle suggestions, you sharing your eye for the sea and composition was invaluable.

  • Creative Development online course.   Just a short note to say thanks for a really energising and inspiring couple of days. The thoughts from the first session were really interesting, and the presentation feedback sessions were great both as a giver and a receiver. There was some great work shown and the comments were very insightful from everyone. I certainly feel I have come a long way since the print course a couple of years ago.

Thank you very much for the Creative Development class. I found it very enjoyable, informative and loved looking at everyones' photographs and hearing about their projects and thoughts for the future. I found that the balance between ‘being talked to’ and our participation just right and have come away with several more ideas on what I could try going forward.

  • Virtual Printing Masterclass "Thank you for an extremely well run, informative and thought provoking workshop. Your professionalism, expert technical and imagery knowledge made for an enlightening photography experience. I can say from this experience, virtual workshops do work. The combination of video recorded group & 1-2-1 training, a professionally printed workbook, all to refer back to over future months, along with a selection of art papers to try out during the duration of the 2 week workshop was money well spent on my part."

  • Virtual Printing Masterclass "As someone new to printing my images, I found this workshop invaluable and enjoyable. Thanks to the clear, step-by-step guidance and the package of materials sent to us in advance, I was able to feel confident about the technical aspects of printing and to look at and try various papers. It was great to do this all on my own equipment with issues resolved in the 1:1s with Adrian and Rachael.  The chance to discuss and experiment with papers to suit my own photographic style and subject matter was brilliant. Adrian and Rachael’s knowledge, enthusiasm and great communication skills made this one of the most informative and inspiring workshops I’ve done.  I am now obsessed with the joys of printing!"

"I thoroughly recommend this workshop. I used to dread printing. This workshop changed that, and I am now confident to print and excited to be able to produce excellent physical copies of my work.
The workshop takes you through the printing process in a straightforward manner and explains all the variables that affect the results. However, the workshop really excels in solving problems experienced when you try to put this guidance into practice with your own software and printer. Every member of the workshop had some difficulties and the ability to sort these out in 1-2-1 sessions was brilliant.
Before the course, you receive a pack of example prints, papers for your use and a professionally printed book. The examples and the book were excellent and will be tucked into my bookshelf for future reference. I was able to read the booklet in advance and make notes on it during the presentation. In addition, I have recordings of all the zoom sessions to use for reference. The workshop had a very friendly atmosphere and I think we all enjoyed the zoom sessions.
I hesitated to book this workshop because of the cost, but it represents excellent value for money. You will not regret your investment.

  • Thank you for a great workshop yesterday. The day was full of advice, help, interesting locations and banter, the time went far too quickly. I came home shattered but with lots of ideas and wanting to do more. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise so freely.

  • Yesterday was so very much what I wanted it to be. Sometimes days like that can be a little disappointing after the fact, but I can honestly say you made it simply perfect! You generously gave your time and expertise even though, with the wonderful light, I knew your fingers were itching to be making your own images.
