Group of 8 / Handmade book workshop in Weybridge, Surrey, with Rachael Talibart, Adrian Beasley and Clea Beasley.

In this workshop, you will learn to create 3 separate books, each based around a square form. This will include a version working with square paper as a starting point and versions culminating in square books.

We will introduce you to 3 structures specially designed as a set that have a simplicity to them which we are confident you should easily be able to replicate at home with minimal tools and materials. These forms are perfect for square images but can be equally effective for images of varying aspect ratios, using a range of page layouts. We will provide you with Affinity Studio templates for all 3 books and full instructions/materials list so that you are able to repeat the process at home. If you haven’t used Affinity Studio previously, we will teach you what you need to know to get going.

You will need to bring your laptop with a selection of images to work on. Before the workshop, you should identify the topic of your books and bring a good selection of images to use as the starting point for selection. You could use the same image selection for all 3 books so that you can compare how the different forms work, or you can bring 3 different projects.
If you do not have a laptop, we may be able to accommodate desktop machines. Please get in touch to discuss.
